I have to say that having been a reader of Fallen from the start, I'm disappointed. It seems the whole thing just keeps on going further downhill. I had high hopes for this at the start, but it seems you guys are drifting farther and farther away from the original premise. What happened to the interesting, gritty, dark psychological ramifications of being in ANBU? It seems to be progressing further and further away from that, and closer to teenage drama-like things. It's pretty disappointing -- you seem to have thrown away the deeply involving, intellectual aspect of this RP in favor of what seems to be lots of fangirly gay UST. I love slash as much as the next fan, but it detracts from the overall mood. I've tried to stick with reading this, but it no longer holds the same appeal. I feel like the overall quality of many of the players' writing has been suffering as well -- are you guys even really trying anymore?

As a reader from almost the very beginnings I just wanted to compliment everyone on the site just getting better and better! :)

I have loved watching as the initial players grow more comfortable in their roles (Ginta/Kakashi/Raidou/Genma/Sumire) and as new characters came on board they found their footing (Ryouma/Tsume/Haruichi).

I am so excited about where this will all go as larger scheme plots begin to take shape (Itachi/Kakashi and how Sumire's return to mission work will affect things) and we learn more about how everyone is interconnected in the past and what that means for the future(Ginta/Ryouma and Raidou/Tsume).

I was just pimping this site to some of my friends and using some of the latest threads because I think the writing is so fantastic :) It's just really hard to get new readers interested since there is quite a lot now to read to get caught up to speed!

For my part, (and admitidly I am slightly biased here) i would have to say that i am more than happy with the way the characters are progressing. For me, and this is just a personal oppinion, it doesn't weaken the characters to see them forming friendships and/or possible sexual relationships. If anything it deepens their characters and makes them more real.

I have yet to meet a person in my life who can or has sustained themselves alone. Having no friends and merely doing their jobs.

But I can see where [anonymous] was coming from, slightly, when they said that as of late, the grit that was there in the begining has started to drop away. The overall tone of Fallen_Leaves has become a lot more tender, as friendships and possible romances are forming. This is after all what people do. They form relationships. For people with such short lifespans as those in ANBU, as far as i can make out, these become even more significant. This also means that they have the ability to become more volatile and explosive too. After all they are paranoid, highly trained ninjas.

However i would have to heartily disagree with the statement that there is a slipping sense of the 'dark psychological ramifications of being in ANBU'. The characters, for me are gloriously dark. Rape, murder and torture, not exactly light subjects. Even Ginta, who outwardly appears to be one of the happier more bubbly characters has, under his surface a spectacularly bleak and in some parts down right cold side to his personality.

Murder, love, loss, torture, rape and friendship. Dark and robust enough themes for me.

Okay, this is the thread I've been waiting for. The one that explains the nasty vibe between Genma and Kakashi. I've been wondering about that since I read the Water Sports thread on GreatestJournal (even though it's not FL canon anymore).

Nezuko, Dark? Pure awesomeness.

OMG :) I was so surprised where the Kakashi and Ginta thread went O_O wow! Kakashi has been changing I now wonder if he'll knee jerk into more of an ass or if this newfound less harsh exterior will stay with Ryouma and Ginta? :)

I hadn't expected the Ginta storyline to weave into this or how it interconnected - very well written and so believable! Fantastic job writing on this one :) i really enjoyed reading it!!!

(and omg an almost date in the room and movie?? I had written Kakashi off as the one person in this story who would for sure not have any type of relationship interest even yet :) maybe that's not true!! :D *squee*)

Also - since it's the same ppl I can also say that I loved the Kakashi and Genma bit -- wow so no wonder Kakashi hates him! O_O and No wonder Genma hates him... it's really sad because if they could communicate just a little it might be mitigated just a bit -- but Kakashi isn't one to communicate like that. Very well done and I too had wondered why why didn't like each other so it's nice to know!

PS - I really wonder how Kakashi and Raidou would get along lol but I don't see that as being possible since dark is both of them but that is something I'm curious about!

Righty, here we go...

This one is for Ki in return for 'Hard to Get', which was simply brilliant !

And this is for Sna, who requested Haruichi looking relaxed. I hope you like them.

This is the well lit version

http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/muffinmadness/Drawings/photo#5195080133684154034
And this is the moodyer (is that a word?) version.

Oh and by the way I'm still bouncing at the fact that people are actually asking me to draw there characters. Seriously, it’s a pleasure to do!

If the initial link comes up as Kakashi, just close it and open the link again. I think my web album has a thing for him *hides*.

Late Night Terrors
[info]lobademibu
2008-05-01 05:20 am UTC (link)
This isn't finished, but I simply CANNOT wait to speak my mind.

I LOVE IT. OMG. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH.

To Bel:
So, when I read Ayumi's profile a long long time ago I remembered reading these lines:
After a few months she started seeing Shin and Yuuichi hanging around the periphery of her vision more than twice a week (compared to the usual once or twice a month) and got more anxious.

She doesn’t have any immediate plans on when she’s going to leave, especially because she’s actually feeling challenged in the missions and she sees her genin cell even more often at home.

~And I scratched my head thinking: What's that about?

Now I know; and it is GLORIOUS.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE horror in any shape or form. And the way you wrote about Shin and Yuuichi is like literary candy for my horror starved brain.

They were right outside the blanket . . . All she could hear was Yuuichi snickering; Shin slamming his hands on the floor, screaming about how Yuuichi was bleeding all over the floor.

And she could see it, even though she had the blanket over her head and her eyes closed. The lower half of his leg was missing and the wound would drip blood - droplets all over her kitchen and floor and bed - or would pour out and soak everything. It was a random sea of red and the stench...

One of them - probably Shin, it was always Shin - was clinging at the sheets that hung over the edge of the bed and pulling it down.

. . .Despite her efforts, though, she caught a glimpse of glimmering eyes under her bed and breathed in sharply, closing the door with a tense jerk.

She could hear it...hear it scratching under the bed and wheezing...

. . . *suffers multiple seizures of joy*
Bel, I think . . . I love you . . . *shot*

Like I said, I live for horror, and these lines provided my overactive imagination with the most delightfully terrifying images in a long time. They were so brilliant because they were descriptive enough to give an impression, but vague enough to leave many of the details to the reader. And I have a sick imagination, which made these lines OH SO FRICKIN AWESOME. Especially the one with the bedsheets. Ooohhhhh, creepy creepy creepy. After actually living through that particular phenomenon, it can't help but strike a deep cord of terror in me. That is one of the most devastatingly petrifying images for me because I can remember that feeling, and it was sick. OMG, what a totally wonderful a read.

To JB:

These lines:

Something there. Something--

He dove for the bed, hackles rippling up along corded muscle, teeth bared and pupils dilating.

Nothing. There was nothing there. No smell, no noise . . .

***There was something there. And there was nothing at all.***

All of that is wonderful, but that last bit, is possibly the most awesome way to describe that which defies the normal range of sensory perception. LOVE IT.

And moving on from the terror/supernatural aspects . . . the pack mentality is so great. I loved Kuromaru's thought process when Ayumi was freaking out about what was in her room:

His pack. His territory. His.</u>

HIS pack. HIS responsibility. HIS territory. He'd KILL it.

It's so cool how he thinks of ANBU as his pack now. They way he treats Ayumi like a pup, and how he tries to protect her from her ghosts makes him soooo frickin lovable and cute I just wanna eat him. (Cute things make me want to eat them . . . >.< shut up, don't ask!) And Tsume acting mommy-like is JOY. And this exchange:

"What'd you do? She smells all sour again!"

"I didn't do anything!" Tsume shot back, offended.

I wants a Kuromaru! I demands me a Kuromaru! C'mon, at least a clone? *begs pathetically*

. . . Well, you guys are doing an amazing job with this thread. I can't wait to see the conclusion.

*Huggles*

Really digging a lot of the storylines going on right now :) I am still a little confused about the ghost/demon thing but feel certain things will make more sense as Ayumi gets more rp time :) (and haven't read the latest update from last night so maybe that had clarification?) Great job ladies I esp. had to die laughing when Kuramaru dumps Ayumi on Tsume and just says "Demon" lol as the reason :D

I was excited to see more of the 4 is a crowd arc and I admit you ladies had me going there on that one O_o I mean when Raidou's halucination started i was thinking "genjutsu!!" but then Tsume's bit w/genma & raidou showing up in it totally tricked me! I was like OMG is it real?! Great playing :) that one is is a crazy thread!

I also really really like Tsume and Ryouma's thread as it's being added to bit by bit, I know I should wait and read it all in one fell swoop but I find myself reading the little updates heh. It's a really 'sweet' for FL storyline with the kids and nice character building :)

Finally a question :) is the Kakashi and Ginta RP bit done now or will there be more to that storyline (presumably once the 4 is a crowd is over?) ? I really hope there is more I really really liked their interactions in that whole thread (and Kakashi and Ryouma's) so would love to see more :)

Hope everyone isn't too busy with exams etc for those in university and good luck :)

Huh. So, this is the first I remember Naruto being mentioned, even if not by name. Interesting, because I was wondering the other night what they (the ANBU of FL in general, not just Ginta and Ryouma) thought about him, if they did at all, you know. Or was he mentioned before and I missed it?

And no, I wasn't like, why haven't they mentioned Naruto? This isn't about him.

Enjoying the thread, as per usual. :) I so appreciate the quality of writing here.

OMG Fantastic job so far ladies :D I love how this thread is going and it's only got 15 comments so far!! I love that Hoshi is there and Ginta's interactions with her :) she's such a security blanket and distraction for those two :)

Just yay for updating :) I was looking forward to see where this will all go with them! And I'm also really excited to find time to read the other new threads :) (and hope to see the end of the genma/raidou/tsume :) since that has been rather interesting so far)...

I really liked the ending to the Tsume/Raidou/Genma series and her Report (Kudos JB on the scratched out parts of the report etc <3 it was so amusing and felt so real!)

I was so excited to see the new Ryouma/Raidou/Genma thread and am waiting eagerly to see that one updated <3

And OMG my favorite by far is of course the Ginta/Kakashi thread right now - I was so happy when I got home tonight and saw it had been updated :D :D I had to read right away :) I love how well you are both working their emotions and all their touchy spots. I love Kakashi and Hoshiki :) it's all just wonderful :D

Hayate :) I am really liking your writing so far in what I've read (Strawberry thread and the thread with Haruichi :) I am planning to read your new threads Kotetsu too :)
As an aside: gah Drelfina I just think Iruka when I see you writing O_O it's so hard to read Kotetsu instead!

Haruichi :) I miss you I love your thread with Kakashi and with Hayate and hope you have time to post more :) soon. I also hope we can see more Haruichi interacting with his fiance because i always find that really interesting :)

Hi. Just me again, feeling the need to post about how wonderful, awesome, great, kickass, special, hot, emotional, brilliant, and groovy Fallen Leaves is.

I'll leave the reviews to those who can write them coherently, and just give you my thanks again for writing stuff that hits me on this level. Hope that's okay. I'm not trying to be lazy, and I feel bad cos I'm sure writers like concrete feedback, rather than someone just saying that they like it.

But your words leave me with not so much words of my own, but feelings. Some threads kick up a whole swirl of emotions and stuff, and it's not so much a wordy-type thing. Which of course is why it's so awesome for me. And which is why I'm in such awe of all you FL writers. Cos you write this stuff, and I've no clue how to.

I so appreciate writers that make me feel, and so I must thank you.

:)

Now I'm going to go bask some more in the Ryouma/Kakashi thread. :D

I saw JB's lj post where she mentions that Kakashi and Ryouma make out and I was like WTF?! lol right after Ki just said she wasn't into yaoi >_> (lol granted that's not what this is but omg!) ... just wow. I think this is by far the most beautiful as far as openness of friendship and emotion thread we've seen on FL and it's just amazing. ((b/c even when genma and raidou are together it's still so gritty and both are lying to themselves... there isn't the honesty we have here (yet?) )

I am dying to read more now! O_O I kinda hope it doesn't come to sex...I mean sex seems rather meaningless compared to what they are doing :) wow it's just wonderful. I'm so happy for Kakashi :) really this kind of scene would be so ooc for the character Dark's made but given all the build up etc and all the extenuating circumstances it comes off not only real and true to his character but even more special :)

And Ryouma! Heh you and your crush on Tsume now you're making out with Kakashi but I love that he wants to 'give back' to him :) that's really something a friend would do and it's very lovely. I wonder if he'll have a moment of introspection after this to see how it fits within his own perception of himself?

Just wow ladies -- fantastic job :) I can't compliment you both enough and gah just dying to read the rest!!

But...holy crap what about Ginta?!?

First of all... I'd just have to say GAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH at the amazingness of the latest threads!! You are all pure geniouses!

Ki, Dark, JB and Nezu... I love you all!

It also seems that I've had a Kakashi-ish mood these past few days ... so here are the latest pickys I've done.

This is my Kakashi...

Dark, I totally loved "Discord in the Dark". LOL, that sounds weird. Seriously, though. I love the bits with Kakashi and his dogs, and I love Hoshika. She's so great.

And WOOT! The Mission of DOOM has begun, indeed! Totally into it, and of course, I'm SERIOUSLY hanging off the cliff here. You guys love to do that, don't you? :D

Ryouma is awesome, and Tsume & Kuromaru kick so much ass. Love love love reading about them.

And holy wow, did the Raidou/Tsume thread go somewhere I didn't expect, or what? There was the demon and all of that, and then they get back to Konoha, and it's Waki-sensei (ROTF) and pool sharking. o.0 That thread took an interesting 180.

So yeah, very much enjoying. Thanks!
