Whoa. Like, whoa. My week has gone all sparkly. When Genma searched for Raidou, everything was so... ah, lovely! His worry, and everything. The little bit about Raidou's wrist being watchless - so wonderful. It kinda spoke volumes about everything. And Raidou, when he tried to process thoughts while drunk - lovely. I dunno, but it felt so real.

And then all hell broke loose. The clashing of the Wills! The bubbling and misdirected anger! The chairs!!! And the wood! And public brawling!!! And the whole world coulda gone rainbow-ey, and they'd have just not noticed, concentrating on each other. Squee.

And...uh, Genma's poor manhood. Man, I'm a girl, and I winced. Can't imagine how he must feel. But really, even this - this low strike, was so apt, even though it coulda been hilarious, it fit the mood so well!

Seriously, I love it when those spar. Well, fight, in this case. It's always full of fun. And when Raidou, even when drunk, remembered - REMEMBERED!!! - about Genma's hands, I swear, I coulda squee-ed myself to tears.

Then the Uchiha came in!!! "Eyes like a nightmare" -- ah, even this was so perfect. Love, man, love!

And Genma - his anger! When the cop (man, you guys make uchiha sound so annoying. *amused* ) got to Raidou's face, Genma's instinctive anger spurred yet another overtly loud squee.

And when detained, the only thing on Genma's mind -- Raidou! Ah, my throat is sore! Good that he got an ice pack, though. Then he dealt with cops! Rudely!

And Raidou! The initial panic! The crawling fear! And the first person to think of! Of course, Genma! Oh gods, how much do I love interaction between these two?

Oh, and that little tidbit about Uchiha holding cells with ANBU and civillian alike? Lovely, really great. I love things like this - it all goes to making Fallen Leaves and her threads all so -blastedly- real! And really, the amount of sheer detail with these little things astounds me.

For that matter, Raidou kinda arguing with himself is really good to read. Seriously.

And they talked. And Raidou said "Genma", and friendship-that's-stronger-than-friendship was so evident, I was awed. And Raidou touched Genma's hands, and didn't get skewered, and there was all the love in the world in that gesture, as he laid Genma's scars over his own, like he was laying his life in Genma's hands - which, he probably already had.

"This wasn't about healing a flesh wound." --> This sentence moved me so much, I don't know why. It was just such a perfect description of the whole situation.

"All things considered, that was a lot better than anything he'd ever hoped for." --> My gods, and is it just me, or does this speak galleons - the whole of Wave- of Raidou's feelings, situation, life?

The trust - so huge, so huge, so beautiful! Ah, and the line of first watch. So beautiful. So significant, though only they would have known it. The weight that felt right - its all so perfect. Genma and Raidou, they really fit. And it's all the more apparent here. My, Genma patches Raidou up, Raidou patches Genma up. In their broken world, one is glad that they have each other.

I was really delighted and touched with Could You Bite The Hand? It was so... lovely. So tender, and loving, and the sheer trust those two men place upon each others shoulders; along with the weight of their pasts and nightmares - their worlds.

Seriously -- This was lovely.

Ahaha...Kaito and his teenage hormones.

Quick thing that caught my attention--

One of the guards that Natsumi and Kaito attack is called "Kazuko"

The other one has an overabundance of chakra.

Like Katsuko! :D *Is totally not a complete loser whatsoever*

She probably made her way into your subconscious *nods sagely* and just popped up when you needed to write a quick OC to kill! *is triumphant at this demonstration of her awesome thinking skills*

You had me on the edge the whole time, fingernails biting in tension and forgetting to leave for university. (Matter of fact I should have been gone for 15 minutes now but who cares.)
The way they both were in shock and reacting so different about it. And Hiro trying to get his dead teammates out of there also they were already dead. And Ginta mixing past and present, and... *wimpers*

I love such dark, full of tension and angst-ridden fics. And this one is excellent.

Fantastic job with this thread, guys. (And, Phoenix, what a great way to introduce Hiro!) You managed to combine beautiful language with stomach-turning terror, and both Hiro and Ginta--so desperate, so determined, fighting so hard--broke my heart. I particularly loved the glimpses we saw of the other shinobi knowing they were dead men, and fighting anyway.

I kept hoping to see Yondaime come blazing to the rescue (partially because I wanted so badly for the boys to be rescued, and, okay, because I wanted to see Minata Be A Hero for the last time...) but at the end, I was really glad you hadn't chosen to go that route. You showed that the only one who could rescue Ginta was Hiro, and that Hiro had no one to save him or to rely on but himself. And we saw him do it.

Now I'm really looking forward to seeing Hiro in ANBU!

Rescue Me

Wow. That was a kick-ass inntroduction to Hiro, and also a side of Ginta that we don't often see. It's a nice change to see him when his control is slipping. He ususally has a really tight lid on it.

I think my favorite part about it all was the use of language. For visual thinkers like me, it's fun to read things that paint a picture of the scene instead of just plain describing them.

And now I'm hoping there's going to be a follow-up thread....can I beg for one?

Playing Hero

I always love reading about Tsume, and this was a good way to introduce Asuma as well. JB, the way you describe the structure of the Inuzuka clan is facinating. Please keep it up!

Dark, I like how you write Asuma; casual, but at the same time, entirely shinobi. The detail about the beads he traded to Tsume for a meal was really cool. I'm looking forward to reading more with these two ^^

Astounded

I am utterly in awe of you guys. Seriously, you have flawed me! Every time I think I have reached my limit of GLEE for one year, yet another thread gets posted!

I have been dreaming of ANBU people! My sanity is fragile enough already without you infecting my dreams as well. (But I love you all the same).

Overwhelmed

So much to read, so little time. It helps that I live with Dark, but still, dudes, hats off to you. You have been working like troopers. My head may actually explode from all the updates, and I'm gonna have to invest in glasses if I end up reading anymore! *grins and wallows in a contented bliss of FL literature*

I can't write enough *squee* on the page to emphasize how much I have loved each and every update. Although to give you an idea, I live in a Victorian terrace with Dark, and she can hear me through the floor when I'm reading and squeak out loud at a thread. So yeah, I'm just utterly in love.

Unhappy

I would usually show my appreciation of all your hard work and writing at this point, by presenting to you new pickys. However, my photoshop has broken and I can't find a new copy that I can afford right now. I will keep on trying to find a copy and hopefully return with brand new pickys for you all some time soon!

Presenting Presents

My hands have not been idle however! I have been amassing a small collection of icons that I have been making using art packages and free icon making sites. I shall be constantly updating my online gallery and am presenting them to you here:

http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/muffinmadness/FLIcons

These are for you all. I have made them specifically for your use. Feel free to add, subtract or alter in any way you like, any of the collection. I'm rather bad at creating catch phrases myself, so I invite you all to do so if you so wish and add them to the base images.

So yeah, it's just a small token of my appreciation to every writer here in Leaves.

Once again, THANK YOU ALL for the squee you have added to my life!

And happy writing!

Okay, so I've been reading things randomly, and out of order, and I don't have time to go back and re-examine each thread so I'll have to settle for a very generalized comment, but basically:

It is official. Kuromaru is my ultimate love, forever and always and no one will pwn him in the history of EVAR.

I had been missing him something fierce since he was out of commission. But it wasn't until he came back and started appearing in threads again that I realized how much I really missed him.

He is simply the best thing since tacos, and I wish I could steal him and have him here beside me forever and ever and EVAR because he's just so damn delightfully entertaining.

And he knows how to break my heart too! OMG, those threads where he's reacting badly to Ryouma. FAdflsfhgakfaf. *WAILS* Yet, he's still so intent on giving Ryouma that damn puppy plushie. jafghaqghk *WAILS SOME MORE*

I love him. He's my favorite person here, and he's not even a human person.

JB, if I knew where you lived I'd bombard your house with flowers, confetti, chocolates, and miscellaneous plushies.

Wow, guys, that Ibiki/Natsumi thread is awesome!

I love her hurt at Ibiki's lies, and Ibiki's "oh shit" moments. *grins* Also, his ships are hilarious, and the occasional glimpses of shame we get into what he does. Ouch.

Love that bit about him lying to his family, and Natsumi's disapproval--then her calling herself on it when she realizes she'll lie to her family about her shoulder. ;)

I really like the backstory between these two, and feel for both of them. Man, that'd all be hard. :P Natsumi's a lot more forgiving than i would be. ;-D And I love her twitching with the spices! And Ibiki smoothing his hair, knowing stray strands would distract her. Sign of good friends. ;-D

Well done, guys! Looking forward to more. :D

I love the new Hayate Genma thread!! It's well written, and so exciting!! I enjoyed reading all the "controversial" parts from Hayate's point of view. We feel what Hayate is feeling (the nauseating feeling) and at the same time we have NO idea what's going through Genma's head as he leers at the poor little girl. Is he disconnected? Is he feeling equally sick?

I love Genma's professionalism and Hayate's rookie "freshness", loads of fun, I am dying to read part 2!

Amazing Awesomeness!

Sadly this is my first comment for quite some time as I haven't been on here since November due to a serious case of real-life-itis, where I felt lucky if I managed to get three hours of sleep a night... Now that I have the wonderful commodity of free time again (it truly is wonderful) I checked back onto FL and was astounded by the amount of writing that you managed to do in three months, so I have been very happily devouring the threads, and have decided to post a sort of combo comment for all the character XD.

Asuma
I am SO happy to see that somebody finally decided to play Asuma (applauds Dark, and showers with appreciation)! I have always adored him and so to see him on FL is brilliant! Naturally I loved his threads (what with the amazing writing and all) and it was a nice change to read some light humour, not that I don't love the angst and the heartbreak - because I do, but the Asuma and Tsume (and Kuromaru) combination was so full of win, that it was out of this world.

Tsume and, of course Kuromaru
JB - how do you find the time to write so much?!
But the writing is always beyond great, so there's no way I complaining!
I'm glad that Tsume and Kuromaru are on the mend - more great missions coming up I hope - plus they'll be happier! Oh, the Raidou and Ryouma threads (what is it with Tsume and guys whose names start with 'R'?) they were just... I don't even have the words to explain I don't think... nothing really does them justice! But Tsume needs to open up, and share the angst; it's good for her, honest!

Kuromaru had me in a conundrum (fear my alliteration XP ) I'm really happy that he's better ("And definitely try crocodile. You probably won't be allergic to it." - This was CLASSIC. I fear I may be quoting it to my confused and unsuspecting friends) but on the other hand he really isn't and I'm caught between the joy and the 'awwww'!

Genma
Oh the utter brilliance of the Genma threads. I love them all. Very much. I also love Genma - but I have the feeling that he's entirely Nezuko's and far be it from me to deprive somebody of their Genma ;D! I do have to admit though that all the best Genma thread come from him and Raidou - maybe it's because he sort of opens up more? Or is a bit more 'himself' if any ninja in ANBU can be entirely 'himself'... But anyway - awesome, awesome threads!

Raidou
I have said much about Raidou in my other comments, so now I'm transferring it to here - in my opinion, Raidou makes things happen... not always the best things (drunk tank incarceration with Genma, but then quickly alleviated by the 'hands' moment... my god I loved that.) but still, things do come to light, or not as the case with Tsume may be... but yeah, as a character I think he is so important (and completely adorable, of course ;) ), just because he not only reveals things about himself, but about the other characters too, and I'm a sucker for backstories. The more the better, I think... I'm counting on you now!

Haruchi...
...is the epitome of the sarcastic, but entirely brilliant doctor. I love the sarcasm. In fact he is like my kindered spirit, and should I have ever had the urge, there is a likelihood that I would have become a doctor just because of him. And Sna's writing of course ;) .

Ryouma
There is not enough of Ryouma! Then again, there is never enough of Ryouma. However what there is, is all epic... but I want more!! Ki? Pretty please?? I would love to see more about what he's thinking at the moment, because it can't be easy, what with the Kakashi, and the Tsume, and the everything happening. Although it was great to see him in 'Weight of the World' I really enjoyed it - I always think that meeting new characters is really intersting, especially with your writing!

Hayate, Kotetsu, Hiro, Natsumi, Katsuko, Ryuichi, Kaito, Ginta, Ibiki and Kakashi, I haven't forgotten you - I promise, I will write comments on you tomorrow! As sadly real-life strikes again and this is all I have time for today!

Ah, well I've been lurking for a while now, or rather couldn't be bothered logging in. Heck, I was lurking back in the Scarlet Spiral days! Only just got up the...er, courage? Yeah, that works. The courage to try summing my thoughts up in a message. So, here goes my valiant effort at clarity:

This is writing of epic proportions! Seriously. Every member carries his or her character(s) through spectacularly! Although, being a Genma/Raidou fan, I must give special mention to Nezuko and Dark. You made their characters so real and believable. no small feat I assure you. Every moment they're together makes me laugh or cry or squee, and that's rare for me. So thank you so much.

So here's the actual message, with the gushing out of the way:
It is very rare that talented writers focus on what are really minor characters within any universe (except Kakashi isn't minor, but whatever). I am one of those people who always, without fail, has the minor characters become her favourites. It just happens. So to have a site like this pop up is breathtaking. Truly.

You own the characters you portray without actually making them too far removed from canon, and add in those little quirks that truly deepen and differentiate between them. I can see every moment, and end up getting sucked into them and rooting for them all the way. The sad or horror-filled moments flood me with dread and the relief that washes through after it resolves is something unique in itself.

It seems that just when I know where something's going, you guys throw me off again with what could merely be a minor twitch of a plotline. Masterfully plotted and well-executed, I tip my tophat to you.

I can only pray that you will all continue the magnificent work and, more importantly, keep on enjoying what you do. A writer is only as good as the pleasure s/he takes in his/her work.

There's so much more I want to say, and I'd love to write in-depth about every character, but I feel I'm starting to waffle, so I shall settle for a mini-bout of fangirlishness, if you'll allow me to indulge. *ahem*

First off: For heaven's sake the GenxRai tension is going to kill me! *tears hair out* It keeps me on the edge of my seat, certainly. They keep getting so close and then- OH, no such luck!!! You cannot imagine how much I'm looking forward to their next interaction, especially given recent events. Take the plunge already you two!!!

Second: Kuromaru is a wonderful character. He never fails to have me laughing in my chair trying not to fall off. Very entertaining, what with the attitude and all.

And third: Glad to see Hayate getting more love. He is popular of course, but he was axed so horribly in canon, and so early! Glad to see some more of him.

Again, a final salute to all the talented individuals. I shall be watching and eagerly awaiting more, because in my sad life I'm afraid this is the highlight of it all. *grins* Gonna go now before I start ranting again.

But all jokes aside, it was an amazingly written thread; the build up of us realising that Genma isn't as fine as he first appeared was brilliant, and I was inching closer to the edge of my seat as more and more symptoms manifested themselves and by the time he crashed I was literally hovering over the floor! I was desperately trying to remember if he did get hurt in the battle, but I didn't want to go back and re-read it because I was far too desperate to know the ending, so I ended up hoping I hadn't missed some particularly epic injury. In all honesty I think that the whole Genma - injured thing was as much of a shock to the reader as it was to the characters themselves!!

And poor Hayate not only having to run with all of his injuries but having to sort out and worry about Genma as well, despite his non-knowledge of medic matters! Also when Genma snapped at him, and Hayate went back to the polite blank smile thing, my heart did an epic clenchy thing, and was swiftly followed by an 'awwwww' moment. I kid you not. Also Hayate's clone is completely brilliant - it added a black sort of humour to what was swiftly becoming a deeply depressing thread, and that made it still very depressingangstyheartbreaking but also funny which is clearly a combination made full of win!

And the ending was a perfect one too!! I loved bitter!Hayate and notdead!Genma (I wasn't worried, not at all ).

So, yet again I can do nothing but congratulate you, and marvel at your writing - it is seriously astounding!

Wow, you two. What an amazing job you did.

Hoshi and Pika
Are so much win it isn't even funny. While Hoshi's and Haruichi's romantic bliss has already been portrayed in previous threads, we've never seen Hoshi, alone, up against prejudice that any refugee or immigrant from a different village would have to face. Her fear and worry for Pika had me catching my breath--and wanting to beat some bigoted ninja butt. -__-; Sna, Hoshi's an amazing character, by herself and in her interactions with Haruichi. She's so sweet that sometimes I wonder how she puts up with Haruichi's snark. Her interactions with Hayate are just...so cute. The cute. I die of the cute.

--Yes. I draw, write and paint. Hayate was very kind and brave to help me so I want to help him.--

Finally drawing her eyes away from Hachiko, and then from Hayate (to whom she'd shot a fond smile while her hands spoke about him), Hoshi got a good look around their modest little stall and the sunwarmed jars of honey and jam gleaming in the spring light.

....Geh. So cute.

Hayate and Hachiko
Suz! I don't think we've met Hachiko before.
....
I want her to be my aunt, dagnabit. ;__; She's so sweet! And sad! Andandand. *flails*
And Hayate thinking that Hoshi's pretty cute had me snorting and falling out of my chair. Oh, poor Haya. You never get the girls, do ya. I like his moment of awesome in the beginning of the thread, when he scares off the two bigger nin. Just a little reminder that he has fangs.
The moment that made me go really "awww" was when Hoshi's "greeting" Haruichi (cute icon, btw, Sna) and Hayate goes all wistful and is like, I'll never find twue wub! ;__;

Yes, I stole this style of posting from iloveanyonebutu, because it is seriously cool.

great job, guys!
Ash

Gah! *rolls in the epic sweetness of the thread*

I love this thread very very much. I want to frame it and hang it on my wall, but I get the general impression that it will not be well received by the people who moan that I already have too much 'rubbish' (it's art dammit!) stuck on them.

But yes, its sooo well written!! I love Hoshi, she just seems like so the perfect partner for Haruichi. I adore the fact that she's more worried about Pika than herself! I was getting to the stage where it was; "is nobody going to help her? Nobody? I mean come on people!!" and then she wrote a message on the back of a rough sketch and there was epic joy at the idea of it!!
And now she has a job! It's brilliant - I think it's a really clever idea that although she can't really talk, she expresses herself in different ways - like drawing, and calligraphy (and the colour of her hair; which is SO cool, the way)!

Then Hayate had me dithering all over the place... on the one hand I was like yes! Hayate to the rescue, but on the other I had an epic worry fit that the other ninja wouldn't back off and neither would Hayate, and then he would get his ass kicked, and Haruichi would have a fit. But thankfully scary!Hayate paid off and all was good again. Despite Hayate's blossoming love for a married woman (which was great, but slightly depressing - he should definitely find himself a partner (and not a mission partner, if you catch my drift ;D)! How about Katsuko? Hey, you use the genius layout ideas, you get pushed into relationships with various characters XD (I'm joking, of course) ) I thought it was gorgeous how when he's injured he went back to his family, and spent time on the stall with his aunt who was like the perfect image of an aunt! Sort of a combo between an wise grandmother and understanding mum!

And last, but by no means least; Haruichi it was soo cute when he got pounced on by Hoshi and his surprise! And the last parting shot - has there ever been a time when he hasn't had the last word? But I adore him nontheless!

Thank you for writing another fantastic thread! Us mere mortals appreciate it very much!!

I read this thread yesterday, and was half-way through a comment before I realised that I couldn't write what I really wanted to say, and that I needed to go away and absorb it, and write something that makes sense, and isn't meaningless drivel.

So, now that I am (hopefully) more coherent, what have you done?!

Kuromaru who isn't an alpha anymore?!

This is, well, epic. Not necessarily a good epic, but very, very epic nontheless. This creates a far greater amount of questions than it answers! What happens to Tsume now? Does that mean that she can't be alpha any more? What if another alpha challenges her? What about Ryouma - does he have to go on missions with them to live up to his role?

Ahem, back to the actual thread - I adored the deeper insight into Ryouma's past, it really was fascinating, and showed us more about what makes him tick; it was great to meet his kids too, they have been mentioned before, but it was really interesting to see them face-to-face as such, I could just picture little Ryouma in their place and it wasn't the nicest image ever, it's lucky that he doesn't know when to give up! And then the angst overload! Oh how I loved the angst overload. It was so well though out, and well planned - I can't believe that Ryouma was willing to leave to Lightning Country just to help Tsume! Now that is dedication; I think he's taking lessons from Kakashi on the guilt thing! My heart was literally in my throat when he finally agreed, it was not only unexpected, but really brave! And then Kuromaru let him win! That was just the greatest unexpected ending that I could have ever thought up - I never imagined that that could even happen! My biggest worry was that Ryouma would end up in hospital again! Full marks on the shock ending scale guys!

Oh Tsume, I feel so, so sorry for her. In a way I want to offer her my condolences, and I don't even know why... Her reaction to Ryouma, and seeing his past in a little more technicolour than she probably imagined it, was fantastic, and the way that she was just so desperate to fix things for Kuromaru. Although she didn't really consider Ryouma in her plan, did she? But that is so understandable, I guess that she just couldn't face Kuromaru suffering. But that's the greatest irony of all now, isn't it? Because Kuromaru is fine and dandy now that he knows where he stands with Ryouma, but Tsume... somehow the impression was created that Tsume doesn't. The almost-crying broke my heart, it really did, honestly should I ever need an angst fix, this is clearly the place to come!

As a more general comment, I think the writing in this thread is probably the best both of you have done to date! Well done - I can't wait to read more, because if it gets better with every thread (which it does) then whatever happens next is going to be even better! Also, you somehow always manage to lull me into a false sense of security with these threads! I think 'oh, look, this seems to be fairly amusing, I'm sure there won't be anything too heartbreaking...' nope wrong XD.

Thank you both for another great thread!

Nicely done, ladies. I honestly didn't know which direction it was going to take until I was almost at the end. I like how you outlined Ryouma and Tsume's motives and the reasons for acting how they did--neither of them were completely selfless. They did the best they could, but when it all came down, they were painfully human.

And that is why I love your writing. It's incredibly realistic. I'm looking forward to the next thread.

T-This, I'm aware, might sound a little... odd considering that this is a different game from Scarlet Spiral (and this one is, as well, seriously totally awesome), but I don't suppose any of you have back ups of the logs from Scarlet Spiral since GreatestJournal went down? Thank so much! ^^;;;;;
